How to Make Your Senior Session Unique!
LET’S TELL YOUR STORY!
How to make your Senior Session Unique!
Most of the high school seniors that I photograph want to have amazing photos that are unique to them. There are a few ways to make your senior photos unique: Clothing, locations, posing but one of my favorite ways is to use props. We won’t use the props in every photo but incorporating props shows off your passion, talent, and personality.
Location
Props are not only things you bring but can be locations as well. Maybe you have a barn on your property that you love or you have a cool looking fence that just reminds you of home. Taking pictures on the football field or basketball court is also a great way to show off your love for a game that you spent your childhood participating in.
Sports Gear/Jersey/Letterman Jacket
Have you danced since you were little or played soccer since you were 4? You could bring all of your old uniforms to incorporate in your senior photos. You could also put on your pads/helmet and full uniform or you could just bring a football and letterman jacket. You can have all of your gear or you could just bring a couple of items like ballet shoes. If you have medals or trophies you can bring those as well!
Hobbies/Activities
Maybe you are not only an athlete but love to get all dressed up. We can incorporate both with a formal dress and cleats or a bat to show the different sides of you. Do you want to become a chef? Let’s take pictures in a kitchen! If Instruments are a big part of your life then bring it! Sheet music, guitars, or even a drum set! Maybe your favorite thing is your car, let’s take photos with it!
Pets
Pets are such a special part of families so they are a great addition to a few photos. When people think about bringing animals they usually think of dogs but dogs aren’t the only pet that we photograph! A Lot of seniors take photos with their cats or horses too!
Accessories
This is one of the easiest props to add to any location and any outfit! A hat, scarf, earrings, necklace, sunglasses, glitter, balloons, confetti, school banners, and even your class ring will make a great statement piece.
Special Outfit
Do you have a special outfit this year? Maybe you were in the homecoming court or we could even get professional photos in your prom dress.
Legacy
Heirlooms are great to add to senior sessions. Jewelry that was handed down from your grandmother or even a tractor that you and your grandfather used to ride together. Maybe your grandparents have an old car that you grew up having special memories with. Even bringing a kindergarten photo to your session would be a fun piece to incorporate. This senior brought this awesome American Flag blanket that her grandmother handmade!
No matter what you decide to include in your photos let it tell the story of YOU!! So when you are thinking about props think about what makes you, you, and what is important in your life!
